THE CLIENT

ITALSERRAMENTI has been producing wooden, wood/aluminium, wood/structural glass and glass-only windows and doors since 1998 in Chiari (Brescia).

THE NEED

The Company wants to improve the productivity of the wooden window assembly sector, which currently requires the application of a label with a code on each individual element and a second transparent covering sticker to protect it during the painting phase.

THE SOLUTION

VM Vision creates and installs an RFID system with these characteristics:

  1. The current window and door processing line has an old labelling machine for printing labels.
  2. A software is developed that intercepts the data sent to the old printer, queries the customer’s management system to acquire additional information to record in a production database and generate and print on a Toshiba RFID printer, an RFID TAG that is applied to each individual element.
  3. Downstream of the painting sector, an RFID antenna is installed that reads and sends to a totem all the information relating to the window elements to be repositioned on the racks to be sent for assembly.
  4. During the assembly phase, an RFID antenna is positioned that reads the information on the glass type and dimensional information and makes the request to the glass warehouse and sends the recipe for positioning the axes and screwdrivers to the assembly machine. Everything is displayed on a totem to facilitate the consultation of additional data for the operator.
  5. After assembly, the window frame proceeds to the hardware and accessories installation phase. The station is equipped with 2 antennas and an RFID reader that acquire tags and query the customer’s ERP and production database and, in addition to displaying the details of the material to be collected on a totem, simultaneously turn on the lights of the compartments of the filing cabinet that contain the various hardware elements useful for assembly, facilitating their recognition and thus reducing times and errors.
  6. For consultation during the various production phases, a Mobile RFID handheld device is also provided which, by reading the RFID tags, displays on the screen all the information of each individual scanned element.

THE PLUS

The adoption of an RFID system has improved the management of window assembly, ensuring an increase in productivity and reducing human errors.
