THE CLIENT

Di Vita, for over 50 years, it has been a company specialized in the transformation of exclusively plant-based products into a range of over 250 references in the food sector.

THE REQUEST

Di Vita, a long-standing customer of the software house, wants to insert production registration panels into the production lines. Production orders are planned from the office and must be registered directly on the line by the operators.

The problem is that, during the day, the lines are subjected to washing and sanitization operations and in some places there is steam and therefore very special hardware is required.

THE ANSWER

The “simplest” choice would be to use our V5 IP67 handhelds, which are resistant to splashes of water and falls and, being mobile, can be moved when necessary. But 24-inch displays are needed to display a lot of information, and in some locations we are considering interconnecting parts of the system to our software. You therefore need an industrial PC but with a steel case, which can withstand washing and steam and is without fans, which would bring humidity inside the computer. You need a fanless PC, without cooling fans or ventilation holes but with a large touch screen.

THE RESEARCH

Let’s contact our Industrial PC suppliers and start thinking outside the box. We have seen PCs used poolside in luxury hotels to manage requests for bar service. The PC is subject to the elements and splashes from guests diving into the pool and repeatedly wetting it, and from customers with wet hands at the poolside making requests at the bar. It seems to be right for us, but there is a physical problem. Standard monitors are 17 inches and we need at least 24 inches. The 24-inch monitor is available but not the case, which must be made specifically for this application. We proceed to design the new case and have it built, assembled and certified.

THE TEST

After about 30 days, our new toy arrives. The production panel developed for the customer is installed on the PC. The wiring is made and it is waterproof, and we do the immersion test again, because obviously we are fundamentally curious and it is always nice to play with water. We turn on the PC and ask our “office neighbor” to dip his hands in water to test the Touch Screen. Everything works fine and our dear neighbor is still among us!

Of course, it shocks us a bit to see our Expresso® “swimming” in water, but all in all we had no doubts…

PRESENTATION TO THE CUSTOMER

After repeated tests we are ready to present our solution to the customer. We are satisfied because the proposal, in addition to being functional, is also very impactful from an aesthetic point of view. We are confident that this PC can perfectly meet your needs.

THE RESULT

The Customer, after seeing it in action for about 1 month, decides to adopt it and places an initial order for 8 of our “sub” PCs.

THE CONCLUSION

The goal has been achieved. This time too, by developing a tailor-made solution for the customer, we have created a new product made in VM Vision that opens up new business opportunities, especially in the food sector, where we are most present.

But above all we are particularly proud to have confirmed that, once again, our work philosophy and our attention to the customer make the difference. Always.

See you at the next challenge.
