THE CLIENT

Mollificio Astigiano specializes in the design and production of springs used in the industrial and agricultural sectors.

THE NEED

The Client’s objective was to reorganize the storage of semi-finished products using a vertical warehouse.

THE SOLUTION

VM Vision creates and installs a graphical interface based on Expresso Desktop with these features:

  1. Dynamic subdivision rules are defined.
  2. Each drawer in the vertical warehouse is identified and divided into various locations equipped with a code.
  3. A datamatrix is applied to each rental space.
  4. A PC connected to the production panel is installed near the vertical warehouse.
  5. The system is interfaced with the vertical warehouse operating software.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Each operator is equipped with a tablet and a palmtop.
  • When the operator has to place the semi-finished product, he queries the tablet, finds the exact location and sends the order to open the drawer.
  • Once the drawer arrives, use the handheld device to identify the exact rental space.
  • Once the exact location space has been identified, the operator proceeds to place the semi-finished product, entering the data of interest on the tablet (for example, date and number of pieces inserted).
  • In the case of finished products, the operator can print a label with all the data relating to the product.

THE PLUS

The adoption of the internal space subdivision system of the vertical warehouse based on Expresso Desktop has solved every storage problem.

By simplifying the identification of the drawers where to store each semi-finished product and, subsequently, each finished product, the graphical interface has reduced working times and human errors.

The connection with Expresso Desktop has optimized the production process, the control of warehouse and stock levels, and the management of order fulfillment and shipping.

THE CONSIDERATION

In light of the excellent results obtained with the solution created by the software house, the Customer decided to purchase a second vertical warehouse for the storage of finished products, asking VM Vision to take care of the graphic interface.
